Rabbit and Hare Deterrent
Rabbits and Hares can wreck chaos in the garden ,by eating young plants ,ring barking trees and shrubs, digging up and eating roots and chopping off young plants at their bases if they are in the path ways of their nightly prowling.

I have   two cats so rabbits don’t dare to venture into my garden.   ( my pet one featured lives with the chooks and the cats know she is my baby so they never look at her—not when I’m around anyway )I have never had one problem with them although up and down my road young rabbits frolic day and night on the verges. The only rabbits on my property are ones I find as gifts left under my bed.So having cats does work for rabbit control.

An excellent method for reducing root attack is to lay large rocks around the bases of trees that rabbits are digging around. This protects these roots but of course the rabbits will probably move on to another variety. I have found they like some species of tree roots better than others .A favourite seems to be  evergreen Magnolia trees

Shooting and poisoning the little critters are sensible options to reduce their populations but in the interim the following spray is a sure way to keep rabbits and hares from wrecking plants. The secret ingredient in the spray is egg whites, a protein that rabbits and hares hate the smell of. The paint   holds it all together.

5 egg whites
600mls water
150mls acrylic paint ( any colour )

Mix all thoroughly. Use straight away. Spray 20mls around each plant. It doesn’t matter if the plant is sprayed.

Larger quantity
1 kg egg powder
10 litres water
2 litres acrylic paint

Mix all together thoroughly and use straight away
